Reading Development (Grades 3-5)

Service Description

Through guided reading, students learn to engage in every facet of the reading process. The goal of this class is to apply that literacy power to all instructional areas. In a guided reading session, students work in small groups and individually to read a text that the teacher has selected at their instructional reading level. The teacher will provide teaching across the lesson to support students in the building of in-head networks of strategic actions for processing increasingly challenging texts. Guided reading provides a context for responsive teaching–teaching that is grounded in the teacher’s detailed knowledge of, and respect for, each student. The teacher actively supports each reader. Further, it allows students to engage with a rich variety of texts and helps them to learn to think like proficient readers. Students are met at their level and led forward with intention and precision. A wonderful method to develop life long lovers of reading! Fee: $162 per child*/9 weeks *A 3% fee will be added for all payments processed online. Cash and personal check are also accepted.
